June 6, 7.20 am. Cecil Newton is 20 years old. He is part of the first wave of soldiers to land on Gold Beach. Despite his reassuring words to his parents, as he writes that "everything went just as planned and has continued as such," this young soldier is getting ready to face the terrible fighting of the Battle of Normandy.

Objects, archives and testimonies give an insight into Cecil Newton’s life, from his training to his role as a tank driver in the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards. They also testify of his other life battle, passing on his war experience to younger generations.

This exhibition is an hommage to this veteran, an honorary citizen of Creully-sur-Seulles who worked tirelessly for peace, and for the remembrance of the sacrifice of his peers, who died in combat to free Europe from Nazi occupation.
